Who are you? The Mirror or the Mask?
Deep down within, it’s a question you must ask.
Are you the one that faces the mirror daily?
Or the one that dons many masks all too bravely?
While the mirror version stands true to the soul,
With the fake masks, what in life are you trying to control?
You face the mirror like you are the truly one –
Looking into those eyes that hold stories of a million!
Masks too many – up and down each day – how do you choose?
What are you trying to gain, what are you trying to lose?
Masks of all kinds – delving on high range of emotions,
Seeking pleasure to support, to love in various proportions?
How long do you plan to hold onto that mask?
How long are you planning to juggle those many if I may ask?
What are you trying to cover, bury or hide?
Who are you trying to get or hold onto or get them to your side?
Every night, every morning the person that you face,
The mirror reminds you that you are the one and only in this place.
These attempts with masks you make to hide the true ‘You’,
Are fake and will fade the day when you get tired and all blue.
Stop trying to cover those various flaws, scars or cons,
Open up, embrace, rectify them – you are not a saint or a Bonz.
This life, this amazing self is one precious gift you own,
Be the mirror, throw away the masks and be genuine, be shone.
